Mallory coordinates all aspects of the center's equity, wellness, and leadership programming, including the university's Women's Month celebration. She brings to this role a range of student affairs experience, including residence life, orientation, assessment, and leadership and has a demonstrated commitment to women's and gender issues.
Mallory recently completed her master's degree in Higher Education Administration from Florida State University.
Lynne handles the business needs for the Women’s Center, which include reconciliations, wage payroll, ordering supplies and keeping track of the budget. Lynne is responsible for the hiring, training, scheduling and supervision of 8-10 student receptionists.
Lynne manages the reservation of the center's conference room spaces. She ensures a welcoming environment for all visitors and supports the successful implementation of programs.
Anna manages all aspects of the education and outreach programming for the Women's Center including program design, implementation, supervision, and assessment of our efforts aimed at advocacy and educating the university community about gender, women's issues, diversity, equity and social justice.
Anna's demonstrated commitment to gender issues in higher education is evident in her career history, volunteerism, and research. She is also trained in crisis response.
Anna received her B.A. in Communication Studies from Virginia Tech, her M.A. in Sociology from California State University, Humboldt, and her Ph.D. in Sociology with a Graduate Certificate in Women's Studies from Virginia Tech.
Special Projects Coordinator
Jessie focuses on outreach and educational programming aimed at addressing gender equity. She works closely with students on volunteer teams such as AWARE (mentoring and group work with Middle School Girls) and Kid’s Night Out. Jessie is the point person for volunteers wishing to work with the Women’s Center, and spends time on other collaborative programming efforts, both inside and outside the Center.
Jessie has worked in reproductive health clinics, inpatient psychiatric settings and has done individual and couples counseling. She also worked with the AmeriCorps program as a community organizer. Jessie has been interested and active in the women's health and reproductive rights movement since 1986.
Jessie received her B.A. from Oberlin College and her M.S.W. in Clinical Social Work from the University of Chicago's School of Social Service Administration.
Gender-Based Violence Prevention Coordinator
Katie coordinates outreach and education to members of the VT community on issues related to gender-based violence, including all forms of sexual and relationship violence, abuse, stalking, harassment, and cyber harassment. She works to promote awareness of these forms of violence and to engage students, faculty, and staff in ending all forms of gender based violence by aiding them in the development of the knowledge, skills, and courage to be active bystanders and positive members of their community. This work includes coordinating Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) at Virginia Tech, advising SAVES (Sexual Assault and Violence Education by Students), coordinating the Red Flag Campaign and White Ribbon Campaign on our campus, and providing guest lectures and presentations for classrooms, student organizations, and others on campus. Katie also has training in crisis intervention and experience working with survivors of sexual abuse and violence, and provides direct services to students, faculty, and staff.
Katie received her B.A. in Psychology and B.A. in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Miami University. She received her M.S. in College Student Personnel from Western Illinois University.
Assistant Director, Advocacy Services
Jessica works with VT students, faculty, and staff who have been impacted by gender-based violence (relationship violence, sexual assault, harassment, and/or stalking). She provides crisis intervention, counseling, advocacy, education and accompaniment to law enforcement, court proceedings, and/or on-campus judicial hearings with primary and secondary victims.
Jessica earned a doctorate in Counselor Education from Virginia Tech and received her Master’s and Educational Specialist degree in Counseling Psychology from James Madison University.
Prior to joining the Women's Center, Jessica served as an Emergency and Assessment (ACCESS) Clinician with New River Valley Community Services.
Christine directs the Women's Center's Counseling and Advocacy Program. She also oversees our outreach and educational efforts on issues related to violence against women. Christine, along with other Women's Center staff, provides the following services to students, faculty, and staff who are victims of sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking, and/or harassment: crisis intervention, short term counseling, advocacy, accompaniment to law enforcement, medical facilities, and judicial proceedings, and information and referral. Christine is also available to do educational presentations and trainings to student, faculty, and staff groups.
Christine joined the Women's Center is June of 2001. She has extensive experience working with survivors of sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, stalking, and sexual harassment.
Christine has a Master's in Social Work (M.S.W.) and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (L.C.S.W).
Gender-based Violence Advocacy Coordinator
Traci works with VT students, faculty, and staff who are primary and/or secondary victims of relationship violence, sexual assault, harassment, stalking, or any other type of gender-based violence. She provides counseling, coordination with campus and community resources and case management as well as coordination with criminal justice services and referral for other needed resources.
Traci has a Master's in Counseling and Human Development and has worked as a clinician in the New River Valley for the last 5 years. She is currently working toward professional counselor licensure and is trained in crisis response as well as trauma informed practices.
“Dr. Ellie” is a female miniature Australian Shepherd. Dr. Ellie is also an animal assisted activities therapy dog certified through VT Helping PAWS (Pet Assisted Wellness Service). Ellie lives with her owner Nikki Hallinon and family.
